Sales Director

Type: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt

The Sales Director is responsible for driving a tactical business execution plan to grow sales of Cape May Brewing Company and Cape Beverage Distribution that includes setting department priorities and allocating resources to align with business objectives and company's vision. Primary responsibilities include accountability for forecasting, sales, new product sales, market specific growth initiatives, budgeting and people management. This is a hybrid role that leads a team of sales professionals at a wholly owned distributor and a team of supplier reps at two out-of-state wholesalers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and communicate a written tactical sales plan that will grow sales
  • Driving and mentoring a team of sales professionals in all territories distributed to by Cape Beverage and represented in by Cape May Brewing Company
  • Lead key account and strategic account management activities, including key and/or strategic customer visits with key account and sales managers
  • Maintains sales manager accountability through regular review of sales reports and analysis of sales information
  • Establishes and conducts regular rhythm of communication and meetings, including agenda for meetings
  • Coaches team through regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports and facilitate the process for Sales Team to build more effective communications, understand training and development needs, and provide insight for the improvement of their performance
  • Creates and manages a budget for the Sales team in CMBC and Cape Beverage
  • Monitor and evaluate local and regional markets to identify necessary strategic adjustments to the sales plan
  • Coordinate with Regional Sales Managers to create annual business plans with wholesalers partners
  • Oversee the creation and delivery of impactful presentations, both external and internal, including objectives and tactics to achieve goals
  • Create, in partnership with GM, quarterly sales KPI’s aligning with strategic initiatives
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other CMBC wholesaler partners
  • Maintain a consistent line of communication with wholesale partner personnel
  • Building brand priorities, brand calendars and pricing structures that are competitive and establish solid margin growth
  • Short and long term sales forecasting that contribute to production efficiency
  • Collaborates with GM, CEO and Marketing to create Manage the Mix and overall sales forecast
  • Work with the Production team to manage forecasting and coordinate distribution of marketing materials to accounts
  • Work and communicate with the leadership team to help drive the financial plan to ensure success
  • Work with the Marketing Team on sales calendar and annual marketing plan collateral and communication ensuring messaging is on-brand, consistent, up-to-date and accessible
  • Represent Cape May Brewing Company and Cape Beverage at requested events and meetings
  • Assists with prospecting of new business and develops a plan for inclusion and distribution
  • Quickly responds and resolves customer issues that can not be solved by Regional Sales Managers
  • Plan and participate in regular training and collaborative activities
  • Coordinate marketing initiatives for sales (e.g. POS)
  • Create and manage incentives for the sales team
  • Be the resource for all sales team members
  • Builds an environment where team members want to perform at their highest level

Requirements:

  • 8+ years experience in beverage sales leadership with a supplier and wholesaler (or similar relevant business experience)
  • Familiarity with state of NJ alcohol beverage business is desired
  • Valid Driver’s License, good driving record
  • Expert with brewery sales technology

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to drive throughout distribution territory and frequently to Egg Harbor Township NJ and Cape May, NJ
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, grasp, handle, push , pull, reach, crouch, kneel, bend, and type and or/write
  • Ability to use a calculator, computer, phone
  • High mental and visual attention required for planning difficult work methods and sequences to obtain size, shape or physical qualities of product
  • Environmental Conditions:
  • Subject to entering bars, restaurants, package, liquor and grocery and speciality product stores.
